All vintage art prints have been digitally processed to produce the best possible results in print. However, since the originals are often much smaller, or the original photograph of the painting was already taken with poorer resolution in times of now outdated technology, there may be slight blurring in the largest versions even despite digital post-processing. This is perfectly normal. Small imperfections (patina) of the originals, such as fine cracks, have been deliberately retained in order to preserve the vintage character. However, damage or severe discoloration on the originals is partially retouched.
Since canvases also have visible sides, which would look rather unattractive in white or monochrome, the pictures are usually printed over the edge accordingly. This causes parts of the image to be lost on the front, which doesn’t look very good on many images anymore. The originals usually do not have a detailed border and of course these edges are not visible when photographing the originals, in addition, other parts of the original are usually covered by a frame, as the originals were usually always presented with a frame. Nowadays, however, canvases are often hung without frames. Therefore, we think it is nicer to offer a printed border, but without losing parts of the image, which is why we use AI software and manual digital image processing to enlarge the images accordingly. This applies exclusively to the canvases, not to the giclees (posters). According to our research, no other supplier of art prints offers this so far. We put a lot of time and effort into achieving the best possible results so that you don’t see any difference between the original artwork and the border that was added afterwards.
