Interior Design, Fashion & Lifestyle
In recent years, furnishing trends, DIY’s and styling inspirations have increased extremely, especially in frequency. If you used to buy a Vogue Magazine once a month, that actually felt like a lot. But what used to be a sporadic or monthly magazine is now being replaced by social media and with daily changing images and trends. I can’t say that this hunt for new trends has ever appealed to me very much. For the most part, I’ve always stayed true to my style and my taste, apart from a few bad purchases and taste slip-ups. But when I realized that vintage art and designs were going to be the next big trend, it was now or never! Because I was in my element with it.
At some point, this trend will probably ebb away again, like so many things before, but antique furniture and paintings and high-quality, timeless fashion will probably always retain its following. This nostalgia that lies in it will always be more appealing to me than any new trend.
However, I have often had to realize that the love for old things can also be quite time-consuming. How many times have I not strolled through flea markets without even finding a suitable piece. But even with new products, my search for high-quality articles that fit my style, sustainable but affordable, which I would like above all, was unsuccessful in the vast majority of cases. That’s where I saw my opportunity. And indeed, when I slowly but steadily developed this idea for a company that could close this gap, the competition wasn’t really great yet. The first ideas took shape as early as 2019 and after initial doubts, failed funding and a lack of budget, as I was on parental leave and financially rather weak at the time, it would take more than a year until I would find my way into a notary’s office in February 2021 to finally found my dream business.
We may not have been an “over-night success” so far, none of our social media posts have ever gone viral, no celebrity has ever discovered us and no big media have reported about us, but from originally only small shops on other platforms like Etsy, Society6 etc. and without any knowledge of how to create a website, is done with a lot of attention to detail and also some wit, a large, own website, with its own shop, on its own server. And yes, I celebrate that as a success. And we’re just getting started! ^^
Since then, I’ve mainly been designing patterns and illustrations. Some are entirely my creation, others are based on historical paintings and surface patterns. You can buy my vintage-inspired designs on many products in our shop. At the same time, you will also support us in the development and realization of other products, because one thing is clear, we have no shortage of ideas and we have much larger projects planned.
All the love
Christina
